Food Processor Uses

What Is a Food Processor and What Are Its Uses?
Much like the dishwasher and self-contained underwater breathing apparatus, the purpose of the Cuisinart food processor can be found in its name. In all seriousness, the uses of Cuisinart food processors are many, and, with practice and a little knowledge, you can be preparing complex dishes in a fraction of the time.

Without a doubt, the most common use of a Cuisinsart food processor is liquefying or pureeing foods. This isn't to say that before Cuisinart came along, we didn't have potato soup or gazpacho; we did. However, making that food involved a time-consuming process requiring chopping and running your food through a food mill.

Some Highlights of the Food Processor's Functions
The food processor is comprised of a work bowl with an interior cylinder which houses an attachment for slicing, chopping, mincing, grating, and pureeing. The blades move at a remarkable speed, circulating the contents of the bowl as they are chopped. A good food processor needs little to no help in completely pureeing the contents, though you can expect some large chunks to stick to the side.

At the top of the Cuisinart food processor is usually an access tube in which you can drizzle oil or add more ingredients to the machine as it operates. Many manufacturers boast having an extra-large access hole, though it's usually best to do some chopping prior to tossing it in.

Some attachments are not used as much as others. For example, if you calculate setting up, operating, and cleaning your Cuisinart food processor, it may be more economical to just slice the vegetables yourself. That said, cheese-grating attachments and other tools can produce excellent facsimiles of hand-prepared foods, and they get it done in a flash.
