Food Processor Safety Tips
The ease and versatility of the food processor make it an essential small kitchen appliance for any home, but it's crucial to remember that it can also be an extremely dangerous machine. It goes without saying that you should never insert your hand into the work bowl when the small kitchen appliance is in use, but what else should you know about the safe use of your Hamilton Beach food processor?
- Unplug the appliance when it's not being used. Always make sure to unplug your KitchenAid food processor before changing any of the parts, removing food from the bowl, or cleaning any of the parts.
- Always hand-wash the motor base. Washing the motor in a dishwasher, or entirely submerging the base into water, can result in eventual electrocution. Simply wipe the base clean with a sponge or a wet towel.
- Check the electrical cord before each use. Make sure the cord and plug are in good working condition before plugging in your Cuisinart food processor.
- Make sure the motor has stopped completely before removing the lid. Failure to wait until the motor has stopped rotating before opening the work bowl can result in bodily harm. Always make sure the blade has come to a full rest first.
- Handle the blades and discs with care. Be cautious when cleaning blades and discs by hand, as the cutting edges are extremely sharp. In addition, always store blades and discs out of the reach of children.
- Always use the pusher when slicing or shredding food. Never insert your fingers or a spatula into the feed tube.
- Be careful not to allow the blade to fall out of the work bowl when emptying it. Remove the blade or hold it in place with your hand while pouring out the contents of the bowl.
