Compare Food Processors

Three Food Processors
Comparisons are difficult in the kitchen. Everybody has his/her preferences toward features and brands, and if the money is there, you can always go a step higher and find something better. But for the purposes of this review, we will assume you have about 200 dollars to spend on your food processor and you want a 10- to 12-cup work bowl.

Cuisinart DLC-8S Pro Custom
This Cuisinart food processor comes in a bit below our budget, topping out at 180 dollars and found in some places as low as 130 dollars. The feed tube is indeed impressive, spanning over half the diameter of the 11-cup food processor bowl. It includes an instructional video and a recipe book, though hopefully, if you are spending this much on a kitchen tool, you don't need such things. More importantly, it has a five-year warranty on the motor and a three-year limited warranty on the whole unit. It includes blades for chopping, mixing, kneading bread dough, shredding, and thin to medium slicing. The motor is an impressive 625 watts - enough to take care of just about any ingredient.

KitchenAid 12 cups
This KitchenAid food processor, model number KFPW760, features a 12-cup work bowl and a 700-watt motor. And while it can be found for under 200 dollars, you may have to go over the budget depending on what kind of deal you can find. With all the blades featured in the above Cuisinart model, this product has the added bonus of a pulse control. Essentially, where other products may continue spinning after you let up on the button, this model will put the brakes on. This is a big bonus if you tend to over-process, though it is somewhat superfluous if you're careful. An egg whip and citrus press are added, making the additional dollars worth it.

Wolfgang Puck 12 Cups
Boasting the name of one of the most respected chefs in the industry, this food processor may take the cake of the three. At only about 180 dollars, it is a great deal. A 900-watt motor beats our other food processors by a long shot, but you should consider whether you need the power. The design delivers power directly to the blade without belts, but this, among other design features, results in a footprint on your countertop considerably larger than the other two. Like the others, it has plenty of attachments for everything from dough mixing to citrus juicing.
